The maximum length of an internship is 6 months. The University of Bologna offers insurance cover to interns against accidents at work through INAIL (National institute for insurance against work injuries) and third party liability cover through other insurance companies.
Before starting the internship students must:
- Select a company taking part in the University’s internship programme through the University’s Online service ,
- Present an application for a specific vacancy or send a personal application for internship through the Online service ,
- Wait for confirmation of acceptance by the company,
- Ask the company and a University professor to sign the project form that can be downloaded from the box on the right,
- Deliver the original form plus a copy to the Central Internship Office (once the online procedure has been completed),
- Collect the copy of the form signed and deliver it to the company
Internships must not start until this procedure has been completed.
Internship with a company taking part in the University’s internship programme
a) To check the list of companies that have an agreement with the University of Bologna:
- connect to the University’s Online service
- click on Companies and use the drop down menus to help you in the search
b) To check the list of open offers
- connect to the University’s Online service
- click on Offers and use the drop down menus to help you in the search
c) Applying for an internship vacancy
- connect to the University’s Online service
- Select extra-curricular internship and use the drop down menus to help you in the search.
- Once you have found the most suitable offer click on the blue button Present application, add your presentation letter and attach your CV.
d) Applying to a company that has not published an offer.
The companies included in the list accept personal applications from students. Once you have found a company that may be interested in your profile (we suggest checking the company’s website) you can send your application using the blue button Present personal application.
e) Once the application has been sent
- Monitor the progress of your application on the website.
- Verify the company’s acceptance.
Following acceptance by the company students must take two copies of the project form signed by the company (downloadable from the box on the right) and by the university tutor, to the Internship Office.
The internship office will only accept the forms once the online procedure has been completed and the internship vacancy/application has been accepted.
A copy of the form signed will be returned to the student who will then deliver it to the company.
Internship with a company not taking part in the University’s internship programme
An internship cannot take place unless an agreement has been established between the company and the University. The procedure is described under information for companies.
Extension of extra-curricular internship
Internships in a Company/Body may be extended:
- the internship must not exceed the maximum term of 6 months from the start of the internship;
- the term must not exceed the term of 12 months from graduation;
- every new internship (or extension) will be added to the previous one up to a maximum of 12 months.
The Extension form must be sent by fax to the Academic Office before the period of internship runs out.
Interruption of extra-curricular internship
Extra-curricular internships can be interrupted at any time and for whatever reason by communicating the interruption to the Internship office
The calculation of the 6 month term shall take into account the actual internship period.
