An internship is a period of work experience in a structure participating in the University’s internship programme; internships offer students the opportunity to have first-hand experience of the world of work.
The credits required by the degree programme are awarded once the curricular internship has been successfully completed.
Internship activities serve to acquire the relevant credits and are in no way considered as a working relationship. The period of internship is determined by the workload required to earn the credits envisaged in each degree programme. Curricular internships must be carried out during the year envisaged in the students’ degree programme.
Before starting the internship students must:
- Select a company taking part in the University’s internship programme through the University’s Online service ,
- Present an application for a specific vacancy or send a personal application for internship through the Online service ,
- Wait for confirmation of acceptance by the company,
- Ask the company to sign the programme form that can be downloaded from the box on the right and communicate the internship programme to the university tutor asking for e-mail approval.
- Deliver the original form plus a copy to the Faculty Ufficio Didattico (once the online procedure has been completed) together with a printout of the tutor authorization,
- Collect the internship record book and a copy of the form signed by the Dean to be delivered to the company.
Internships must not start, for whatever reason, before the completed form has been signed by the Faculty Dean as the insurance coverage will not be effective.

The internship office will only accept the forms once the online procedure has been completed and the internship vacancy/application has been accepted.
The programme form signed by the Dean will be returned to the student.
Internship with a company not taking part in the University’s internship programme
An internship cannot take place unless an agreement has been established between the company and the University. The procedure is described under information for companies
Companies cannot publish internship offers until the agreement has been stipulated.
Registering the internship
During the internship the company tutor must sign the record book of the activities carried out.
To register the internship students must contact their university tutor who will check and sign the record book; students must then go to the professor responsible for registering the internship (often it's the same person covering both functions). The names of the professors appear in the list of internship boards in the box at the top on the right; contact details can be found in the University directories).
Extending the Curricular Internship
Curricular internships in a Company/Body can be extended when a student does not achieve the number of hours established to earn the credits envisaged in the degree programme as stated in the Internship Programme form.
In this case the Communication of Extension must be sent by fax to the Internship Office using the special form (on headed paper of the company/body) published in the Annexes.
NOTA BENE: The Communication of Extension for the internship must be sent to the office before the period of internship runs out.
Early conclusion of curricular internship
Internships can be ended early (i.e. before the end date on the Internship Programme) only if the envisaged number of hours for the required credits have been completed.
In this case students must inform their university tutor, fill in the special form included in the Annexes box and send it in by fax.
Interruption of curricular internship
Curricular internships can be interrupted at any time and for whatever reason by communicating the interruption to the Faculty Academic Office using the special form in the Annexes box to be sent by fax once the university tutor has been informed.
The internship period carried out will not be taken into account and a new internship must be completed to earn the necessary internship credits.
